چکیده

Content Addressable Memories or CAMs are popular parallel matching circuits. They provide the capability, in hardware, to search a table of data for a matching entry. This functionality is a high performance alternative to popular software-based searching schemes. CAMs are typically found in embedded circuitry where fast matching is essential. This paper presents a novel approach to CAM implementation using FPGAs and run-time recon guration. This approach produces CAM circuits that are smaller, faster and more exible than traditional approaches.

A flexible design of network devices using reconfigurable content addressable memory

The content addressable memory is a memory unit that uses content matching instead of addresses. content addressable memory are used in different networking, telecommunications and storage applications because of their parallel, fast search capabilities. This paper presents a new method (called array method) for designing Reconfigurable content addressable memory (RCAM). The behavior of the new...

A Self-Repair Technique for Content Addressable Memories with Address-Input-Free Writing Function

This paper proposes a simple and effective built-in self-repair (BISR) scheme for content addressable memories (CAMs) with address-input-free writing function. A programmable built-in self-test (BIST) circuit is designed to generate different March-like test algorithms which can cover typical random access memory faults and comparison faults. A reconfigurable priority encoder is proposed to ski...

A Mismatch-Immune 12-bit SAR ADC With Completely Reconfigurable Capacitor DAC

We overcome mismatch constraints of capacitor DAC design in SAR ADCs using a completely reconfigurable DAC with content addressable memory beneath groupings of unit capacitors. We demonstrate a linearity optimization technique in simulation and measurement. We achieve a nearly 2-bit repeatable ENOB improvement with a peak of 11.3 bits.

A Dynamically Reconfigurable FPGA-Based Content Addressable Memory for Internet Protocol Characterization

Internet Protocol (IP) characterization is the process of classifying IP packets into categories, mainly depending on information in the header. This report describes the implementation of an FPGA-based dynamically reconfigurable Content Addressable Memory (CAM) for IP version 6 (IPv6) characterization. This CAM is characterized by a large width of the search word, a relatively small number of ...

Compiling Policy Descriptions into Reconfigurable Firewall Processors

We describe a framework for capturing firewall requirements as high-level descriptions based on the policy specification language Ponder. The framework provides abstraction from hardware implementation while allowing performance control through constraints. Our hardware compilation strategy for such descriptions involves a rule reduction step to produce a hardware firewall rule representation. ...
